Stoa Saul
The arcade was built between 1867 and 1871 by Saul Modiano, a well-known Jewish banker, one of the wealthiest men in the Ottoman Empire. Within the ‘Cite Saul’, a small commercial town was created, offices were held by both the architect Eli Modiano and the Modiano Mortgage Bank, while its contemporary configuration came up by the remodeling of the city’s urban design after the great fire of 1917.
