Ascending towards Ano Poli, a different aspect of Thessaloniki is being revealed infront of you. The fortifications for the city’s defense, dominates the scenery, with the so-called “middle wall” separating the Acropolis area from Ano Poli, the Anna Paleologina Gate, and the imposing circular tower of Alysseos or Trigonion Tower, on the wall’s far end.
